Zipline Zapped, Second Anniversary

Two years ago today, amid a firestorm of controversy and outrage from the community, Seattle Parks withdrew its plan to allow a commercial (GoApe) zipline in Lincoln Park. You can watch the nearly two hour video of the community meeting the night before right here.

That event served as a wake-up call to park lovers everywhere, to always be on alert , so that another such almost-tragedy would never occur again. It also brought people together and demonstrated the importance of an organized voice around a cause. Seattle Nature Alliance had its beginning in the days following the zipline defeat.

Since then, we have broadened our scope, to include all Seattle Parks in our advocacy for the preservation and protection of our park natural areas. Many thanks to the Fauntleroy Community Association, the West Seattle Blog, and many others for their hard work and support during that time. Happy Anniversary!
